OUR STORY
Create/Captivate didn’t burst onto the scene fully formed and flawless. Like all good stories, this one started with a bit of chaos, a lot of grit, and more than a few plot twists.
Founder Kaycee J. McCoy has always had a knack for digital marketing, but in 2009 she found herself knee-deep in toilet paper sales (yes, really). A chance opportunity to help a small business owner quickly sparked something bigger, and before she knew it, she had abandoned her 9-to-5 and dove headfirst into entrepreneurship – maybe just a smidge sooner than any sane person would have recommended.
In March of 2017, Create/Captivate Digital Marketing was born, and for several years, it was a full-blown marketing agency with a talented team of creatives. The company did it all—branding, social media, website design, content creation, photography, and more. The team expanded, the client list grew, and the accolades started rolling in. But as the business evolved, so did Kaycee’s vision.

The journey wasn’t all rainbows and confetti. Create/Captivate first came to life as Happy Kaycee Productions in 2010, and those first five years were a mix of exhilarating highs and gut-wrenching lows. It was messy, imperfect, and at one point, dangerously close to calling it quits. But then, fate stepped in. A series of chance encounters and an invitation to attend the Inc 5000 Conference as part of the Military Entrepreneur Delegation handed Kaycee the tools, connections, and raw inspiration she needed. She wiped the dirt off her knees, rebuilt from the ground up, and catapulted her business to new heights.

“I built Create/Captivate because I believe in marketing that feels human. I’ve seen too many brands get lost in the noise—my mission is to make sure my clients don’t just show up but show off, with strategy and storytelling that leaves a mark.” –Kaycee J. McCoy
By 2024, it became clear the sprawling “we can do it all” approach wasn’t sustainable – or aligned with where Kaycee wanted to go. So, she made the bold decision to scale back to a one-woman show, niching down into what she does best:
This shift wasn’t just about reducing overhead or simplifying operations – it was about realigning with her passion and building a business that felt authentic. Kaycee has walked through the fire of entrepreneurship more times than she can count, and every time, she’s come back sharper, stronger, and with a few new stories to tell. She understands the constant pivoting required in business because she’s lived it. She knows what it’s like to throw spaghetti at the wall (and frankly, she’s over it).
Today, Create/Captivate is a testament to the power of reinvention. It’s a brand that isn’t afraid to adapt, evolve, and rewrite its own story—over and over again. And for businesses looking to do the same? You’re in the right place.
