12 years in the non-profit field, including program coordination and community outreach, and seven years of assorted web copywriting.
Writing has been a passion of mine since I was just a wee one. Creating vivid images with words and utilizing creative and colorful adjectives to fully paint a picture makes my heart smile. I spent 12 years in the animal welfare field before making the decision to take my career in another direction. In my time working at shelters, I had amazing opportunities to learn from experts in my field and grow into the compassionate human I am today. My professional creative writing began during this time in my career. Writing animal biographies is a great way to expand your vocabulary and hone your creativity.
I hail from Saginaw, MI and am a relatively recent transplant to the Hampton Roads area. I reside in Norfolk with my active-duty Navy husband, two bonus kiddos, 2 dogs and 5, yes 5, cats. I have been called a crazy cat lady, but I prefer the title of eccentric cat aficionado. In my free time you will often find me literally herding cats, corralling (and snuggling) children, walking my dogs, or being weird with my husband. I love puns, the beach, rock hunting and making people laugh whenever possible.
